020 has obviously been a strange year for travel. Travel overall has been discouraged, and flights and vacations have decreased dramatically. My own company has been asking employees to take “forced PTO” since so few people are using their vacation time! In these unprecedented times, some people feel comfortable traveling, while others don’t. I recently traveled to Florida and wanted to share my experience for those of you who are also ready to start traveling by plane during the pandemic.
What you need to bring to feel prepared for traveling by plane during the pandemic:
If Youtube’s not your thing, my suggestions are also shared below!
1. A comfortable mask

The most important thing you need for traveling by plane during a pandemic is a comfortable mask, which you’ll need to wear for the duration of your flight. This mask is the best one I’ve found by far! It’s super soft material and adjustable straps make it comfortable for hours of wear.
2. Plane seat cover

Plane seat covers are by far my favorite thing to come from this pandemic. I already hated sitting on dirty plane seats before the pandemic, but I hate it more even now! Keep yourself safe and clean by using a plane seat cover on your flight. I’m going to be using these long after the pandemic is over! (Please say it will be over some day…)
3. Water bottle

Remember drink service on planes? That no long exists. Instead, you are handed a small bottle of water when you get on the plane. I drink that small bottle of water in approximately 2 minutes, so I suggest bringing a full water bottle of your own.
4. Hand sanitizer
Are you even leaving the house without hand sanitizer these days? Bring some travel hand sanitizer on the plane so that you can clean your hands pretty much any time you touch something.
5. Clorox Wipes
Planes do give you a sanitizing wipe when you board, but I recommend bringing a few more wipes so you can make sure your seat area is as clean as possible!

Do you have anything you recommend bringing for traveling during the pandemic? Let me know!

I flew for the first time since the pandemic started a few weeks ago. As someone with an autoimmune disease, I wanted to be extra careful so I wore a face shield too. A few other people had them on too so I didn’t feel too weird about it but I definitely got some funny looks from people. Ha!
Haha I definitely saw people with face masks as well! I feel like this situation is just making us all less judgmental about what people are wearing 🙂
Thank you so much for all the helpful information! I personally haven’t been on a plane during the pandemic. Your article makes me feel a little better about attempting it.
That’s great to hear! It’s definitely scarier than it used to be, but can be done safely as well 🙂
A nice mask nowadays is so important! Most of them make my glasses fog up so it’s rare I find a good mask 🙂
Yes that’s such a problem with masks! I find ones with nose wires are helpful with preventing fogging up!
I have a plane seat cover and was using it pre COVID-19. It made me feel better when sitting in a seat for many hours.
Yes I love mine now!!
Hello! Thank you for your article and tips for plane travel. It made it seem less daunting. Didn’t know about the seat covers. Really good to know.
Thanks for reading! The covers are new for me as well, but I love them!
