My boyfriend and I are big TV watchers and love to spend the evening sharing a show together. Whenever we finish a show, we are filled with doom at the daunting task of trying to find a new one; ideally a show that doesn’t have too many episodes, will appeal to both of us, and is relatively lighthearted. To help you out with this dilemma, I’ve created a list of some shows to binge watch with your significant other.
Shows to Watch with Your Significant Other
LOVE – This show is about an extremely awkward couple living in Los Angeles. It has more cringe-worthy moments than anything I’ve ever seen in my life. It’s great to laugh at, bond over, and share gratitude that your relationship is hopefully nowhere near as uncomfortable as the one on this show.
This Is Us – This was our fave emotional show to watch…until A Million Little Things came along and stepped up the feels game even more.
A Million Little Things – This series is about an adult group of friends (always nice to think those exist) dealing with the fallout after one of them commits suicide. It’s not as heavy as it seems – it’s funny, heartwarming, and mysterious. It also has only made me cry during a handful of episodes and not all episodes, which means it’s the perfect amount of emotional.
The Haunting of Hill House – This is a SPOOKY show about a family living in a haunted house. It’s not a genre we would usually watch because we are cowards, but the characters and family relationships in this show FAR outweigh the spooks. This show will keep you up together swapping theories and being afraid of the dark shadows in the room.
Black Mirror: This show is a little freaky too, but more in a “what if the world was really this wild” kind of way. It’s a crazy realistic glimpse into a future where technology goes too far. It’s a great show for discussion and quality time!
Game of Thrones: My boyfriend refuses to watch this amazing show, but I often daydream about how nice it would be to share this show together. (Sean, if you’re reading this, I beg you.)
Married at First Sight: I could sing praises about this reality show forever. 3-4 couples get matched up by relationship experts and then literally get married at first sight. The show follows them for 8 weeks after their nuptials, and it is SO interesting to watch them navigate their new marriage. This is a great show to watch with your significant other because there are a lot of good relationship lessons that are exposed on the show that can spark constructive conversation about your own relationship.
Friends From College – This show will both crack you up and leave you shook, and it’s a very easy Netflix binge watch. This is show focuses on exactly what the title says: friends from college, and how their friendships change in later adulthood.
I hope you enjoy these recommendations! Now go forth, snuggle up, and binge!
